September 12, 2022 - September 18, 2022 9/22/2022 Site Update
During this operational period, construction of the conveyance channel was completed. The area around the conveyance channel and the borrow area was dressed up. The drainage channel for water draining off the top of the waste pile was constructed. The swale and drainage pile were constructed at the point where the road diverged from the conveyance channel. The road was graded to push the water into the channel. The installation of the gate inside the portal commenced. The parking area was cleared of riprap rocks. About 40 cubic yards of riprap rocks were placed in a location designated by the property owner. The work area was cleaned up and inspected.

September 5, 2022 - September 11, 2022 9/12/2022 Site Update
During this operational period, restoration of the lower area was completed. This included the burial of some of the trees perpendicular to the flow of the stream, placing large rocks around the small parking area and grading the road for the last time up to where it meets the creek. The placement of clean fill and final grading was completed on top of the waste rock pile. Water was diverted from the adit discharge channel and shunted into "Beaver Pond 3". The lower conveyance channel construction was completed, including the construction of the lower ponding area where the water is split into two outlets: one to the original wetland and one to the ponds. A two-foot fence was installed around the conveyance channel to keep the beavers out. After the lower conveyance channel was completed, the water diversion was reconstructed up higher near the culvert and the discharge was into the lower conveyance channel. The lagging installation at the portal was completed. The area around the portal was backfilled. The area where the soil was staged was dressed up. The hydroseed contractor was on-site to inspect the areas that will be seeded.

August 29, 2022 - September 4, 2022 9/6/2022 Site Update
During this operational period, construction of the beaver pond analogs was completed. The restoration of the remainder of the lower area was nearly completed. The lower reach of the waste rock pile was covered with clean fill and then armored with riprap. Clean fill was placed in the flat area. The bulldozer then ripped that material to mix it in with the native material. The timber and vegetation that was salvaged was placed in this area and then tracked with the bulldozer. A small parking area was constructed. The subgrade on the top of the pile was graded to drain off of the pile and into the conveyance channel. A 1.5 foot curb was constructed on the edges facing the road to keep water off of the face of the pile and to contain the clean fill cap. One foot of clean material was placed on the top of the pile over a large portion of the pile. The cap consisted of six inches of non-screened material and six inches of screened material. Clean fill was excavated from the borrow area. Some of the material was screened for use on the top of the pile. The walkthrough for the portal work was held on August 30.

August 22, 2022 - August 28, 2022 8/30/2022 Site Update
During this operational period, the limestone crusher fines were spread over the top of the waste pile. They were mixed in to a depth of 1-1.5 feet. The beaver pond analogs were 95% completed. Fill material was excavated from the adjacent hillside. The subcontract for the portal work was signed. The pre-construction walk with the subcontractor was scheduled.

August 15, 2022 - August 21, 2022 8/22/2022 Site Update
During this operational period, the subgrade on the top of the pile was graded. The limestone crusher fines were received and are currently staged. Clean fill was placed against the base of the waste rock pile. HDPE liner was placed against the tailings and waste rock that was exposed to the beaver restoration area and could be affected by standing water. 90% of that liner has been covered with at least one foot of clean material. Clean fill material is being excavated from the adjacent hillside. Construction of the beaver string-and-flark system commenced after building access to the area with clean fill.

August 8, 2022 - August 14, 2022 8/15/2022 Site Update
During this operational period, the area around the portal was excavated in anticipation of the work on the portal that should begin in the near future. Restoration on the beaver/wetland area and the area between the waste rock pile and the creek began. Where tailings remain in the bank supporting the conveyance channel and against the road embankment where water could be standing, the bank was lined with HDPE liner and covered with clean fill. Clean fill material is being excavated out of the slope on the uphill side of the conveyance channel.
