At approximately 0400 on October 19, 2022, a train derailment occurred one mile west of Lagrange, Maine, on Highway 16. One of the eleven derailed Canadian Pacific Railway freight cars contains asphalt and is submerged in Dead stream.  An unknown amount of oil has been discharged into the stream and a sheen has been observed. The other impacted freight cars are reported to not contain hazardous material.  In addition to the freight cars, three diesel locomotives with up to 5500 gallon capacity fuel tanks derailed and are adjacent to the stream.
